Finals!

Final critique on Wednesday May 4 from 12-2 pm.

1. Three images printed and mounted or matted.  Drop your psd files with all layers on the server before class begins.

2. Update your blog portfolio with an image and description of all of your projects throughout the semester. It will be due by the end of class on Wednesday.

3. Check your grades on D2L to make sure you have all assignments accounted for.

4. Save all files from the server and backup your desktop files as they will be cleaned out next Friday.

Print your master study print on the laser printer and have your artist choice photographs downloaded. For class on Thursday.

Tuesday March 15

We will be going through Lesson 11 Painting from the text.  Download your 20 images for your original painting and scan your idea for your master study portrait and print on the for project 4 they will be due for Thursday March 17th.

Make sure you have all of blog posts up to date with your final images of your projects.

Print your Warhol Poster and upload your animation on the blog.

Assignment over spring break: Take 20 original photographs for your artist choice painting. Subject matter is your choice (still life, landscape, portrait) Think about an actual painting in terms of composition.

1. Post a final corrected image of your Project #2 image to your blog website.  Explain your story to your viewers.

2. Find two artists for your traditional and digital surrealistic artist and post their names on the comments section of this message along with your name. The same artist can only used once.  So check the list before posting your name.

3. Read Chapter 4 Layer Basics and Chapter 8 Vector Drawing

Image Manipulation - Has it gone to far?

After viewing the Dove movie in class, read the article on Image Alteration, from CBS Sunday morning and respond to the two questions below by typing a paragraph for each one.

1. After watching the ad created by Dove and learning more of the features of Adobe Photoshop and how to alter photographs, how do you feel about many of the images that you see in magazines? What messages are the advertising agencies and companies who pay to run these ads trying to send? How does it affect you as an individual, as a teenager, as a society?

2. Based on the article from CBS Sunday morning, what did you think of the photo of Senator John Kerry with Jane Fonda as it was used in the presidential campaign- how does this affect us?

We will be using this as a class blog for posting assignments, online class critiques, and general information for the course. Each of you will be creating your own blog portfolio of your artwork and thoughts throughout the semester. For your first assignment, we will be creating your own blog.  Your first post will be an introduction activity.

You've seen the American Express ad's before, now is your chance to 'express' yourself. In our introduction assignment you will literally introduce yourself. Here are two advertisements of Kate and Ellen. The photographs were taken by Annie Leibovitz.
What props are they using? Do the images look candid or posed? How can you express who you are through one photographic image?

Homework:

You will need to have a self portrait photo ready for the next class.  I will demonstrate cropping, levels, and turning the image to black and white. 

Copy the following text and supply the answer in a different font in your first post. We will post your first image on Tuesday 1/18 as an introduction to the class.
